DOC Etna
Nerello Mascalese
Le Sabbie dell'Etna Rosso is, together with its white variant, the progenitor of Firriato's multi-decade production on Etna. The wines of the Tenuta di Cavanera Etnea are elitist by birth and aimed at exclusivity. Labels designed and dedicated to the most demanding winelovers. The Red Etna Sands reveals itself to the glass with a delicious and complex bouquet with notes of cinnamon, black pepper, blackcurrant and cherry under spirit. Only the extraordinary terroir on the northern side of Etna, on the slopes of the largest active volcano in Europe, could generate this wine of great personality. The volcanic soils of the estate are characterised by the high concentration of nutrients such as phosphorus, which determines the concentration of sugars in the must, manganese that increases the plant's cold Defence capabilities, and iron that contributes to the pigmentation of black berry varieties, determining the bright colour of Nerello Mascalese grapes

Etna DOC
Nerello Mascalese
From the vineyards raised in the black and sandy soils of the volcano is born Cavanera Contrada Marchesa Etna DOC, a red Cru of Nerello Mascalese. This jewel of the volcano concretely expresses the organoleptic characteristics and the peculiarities of the grapes of the single vineyard of the Tenuta. A vineyard exclusively dedicated to the birth of this label and selected for the vegetative superiority of the vines, the quality of the water and the microclimate. Cavanera Contrada Marchesa is a wine with distinctly mineral scents that is characterised by alcoholic elegance and spicy scents typical of Nerello Mascalese. To the glass it reveals a soft ruby red colour and eropes with the intensity of the scents of small red fruits. The body of the taste and the seduction of the tannins are predominant.

Etna D.O.C RESERVE
Nerello Mascalese and other relic varieties
In the vineyards of the Cavanera Etnea estate there is a rare and precious treasure: a pre-phyllossera vineyard. Long-lived, centenary plants, which are distinguished by the formation of the trunk, often evolved into concentric circles, turns and twisted arms. Creatures that time has forged bringing them to us, full of history. From these ultra-hundred-year-old plants is born the Etna Riserva Signum Aetnae, the flagship of Firriato's etna production, which vinifies the grapes of Nerello Mascalese and other relic varieties in its free-footed vineyard. A parcel of prephylloxera, whose plants were planted before the arrival of the aphid on Etna. This precious Reserve comes from vineyards raised according to the traditional system of the Etna tree at 650 metres on the northeast side of the volcano, a vineyard dating back to the second half of the 19th century, which testifies to the centuries-old culture of wine on the most active volcano in Europe. This treasure, depending on the vintage, gives life to about 3,500 "samples", intended to embellish the most prestigious wineries
